Iceland
This beautiful island in the mid-Atlantic is now one of Europe's coolest destinations. Its cosy, historic capital, Reykjavik, lies close to an abundance of spectacular nature, including Europe's largest glaciers, green river valleys, waterfalls and a quite spectacular coastline dotted with hundreds of fjords - this will be a study trip quite like no other.
All tours are tailor made and can be extended as you wish.

DAY 1
On arrival at Reykjavik Airport your coach will collect and transfer you and your group to the City Hostel. You'll have time to settle in and enjoy the hostel's excellent facilities or take a swim in the local pool before dinner.
Day 2
After breakfast, the first morning will be taken up with a sightseeing tour of this intriguing city, visiting all the key sites, including the Old Town centre, parliament building, and university district, as well as a visit to one of the city's geothermal pools. After lunch (not inc.), the group set off for a trip to the spectacular Blue Lagoon, a vast outdoor lake known for its mineral-rich properties - here the students can indulge themselves with a slow, warm soak, before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Day 3
After breakfast, we set off for the day to Landmannalaugar, the ‘Pearl of the Highlands', a vast geothermal area in southern Iceland. From the capital you first pass through some spectacular countryside, taking in the fabulous Pjorsardalur Valley and Hjalparfoss Waterfall - it's even possible to enjoy another relaxing bath along the way! Refreshed, the tour continues to Iceland's most famous active volcano, Hekla, where fresh layers of ash have been deposited over the surrounding landscape in recent years. The day's tour concludes with a trip to the Pumice Mines and then the pretty horticultural town of Hverageroi, before returning to the hotel.
Day 4
Today you'll have time for last minute shopping and photo shoots before the coach collects you from the hostel for your transfer to the airport. Return to the UK.
Geography Tour 2 - 4 Days / 3 Nights
DAY 1

Day 2

Day 3
After breakfast we've arranged a classic excursion to the "Golden Circle" to see many of Iceland's natural wonders. First stop, Hveragerdi where harnessed geothermal power has permitted a greenhouse industry. Then it's on to the picturesque Kerid, a lake-filled extinct volcanic crater, before continuing to Skálholt, for centuries Iceland's main cultural center. The amazing Gullfoss (the Golden Waterfall) provides a perfect final stop before lunch. After your lunch stop (not inc.) you'll explore the world-famous, fascinating Geysir area, where hot springs and other geothermal phenomena abound before heading on to the Pingvellir Nationall Park. Situated in a rift-valley this splendidly scenic place is of tremendous geological interest. On your return to Reykjavik you'll journey over the Mosfellsheidi heath.
Day 4
Today you'll have time for last minute shopping and photo shoots before the coach collects you from the hostel for your transfer to the airport. Return to the UK.
Accommodation
Reykjavik City Hostel, Located in the Laugardalur valley, 10 minutes by bus from the city centre
Need to know
The hostel provides film nights and an on-site entertainment programme. There is also a games and satellite TV room. The reception has a travel service for groups who want to book their sightseeing visits during their stay. A meeting room (up to 40 persons) is available for groups and the hostel has internet access. Locally, there is a swimming pool next to the hostel. The City hostel has been awarded several environmental awards including the renowned ‘SWAN' award
Rooms
The hostel has 170 beds. Students are usually accommodated in 4-6 bunk bedded rooms with and sometimes without private facilities. Smaller en-suite rooms are available for teachers. Bed linen is available for for rent on arrival (currently 600 kronur)
