Highlights of this tour.
Skills Venture is looking for visitors to break new ground, using their business skills to support local entrepreneurs and make long-term, sustainable differences to local communities. Visitors have the chance to ‘go behind the scenes' seeing entrepreneurs at work and providing them support and advice, leaving both with a feeling of tremendous satisfaction. All this whilst staying in an area of breathtaking natural beauty, and in accommodation that is comfortable and refreshing. We make sure our visitors return home, feeling fulfilled, inspired, refreshed and energised.
Example of the itinerary.
Skills Venture provides trips of varying lengths. People already taking a Safari holiday might choose to tag 2-3 days of Skills Venturing on to their holiday. Others might want to make Skills Venture a holiday in its own right for 2-3 weeks. Others still might make Skills Venture a sabbatical for 3-6 months. In all cases, Skills Venture will pick up visitors from Nairobi airport and transfer them by vehicle to the Naivasha accommodation. This is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty and adjacent to a private game reserve. During the week, visitors will spend 4-5 days mentoring a number of different entrepreneurs 1:1. The first mentoring session will be run at the entrepreneur's premises to get a feel for their business, for the rest the entrepreneur will travel to you for advice. Lunch is taken together and sessions usually end at 4pm. In the evenings, drinks can be taken at breathtaking sites watching the sun go down, and there is the chance to socialise with fellow visitors round the fire in the evening. Three full meals are provided every day. At the weekend, a variety of activities can be organised from golfing to game drives to nature walks to rock climbing and much more
The benefits you bring in taking this tour.
Skills Venture supports local entrepreneurs with huge potential to help their local communities. The best way to bring this to life is to share the example of Joseph Njeru, a yoghurt manufacturer in the Kenyan highlands. Joseph has successfully grown his business to the point where he sources milk for his yoghurt from 200 local farmers, and given local family sizes, this provides livelihoods for 2000 people. He has recently gained a supermarket contract that will double his business, but he needs extra equipment to make the yoghurt. He is struggling to create the business plans needed by the banks for an equipment loan, and just wants someone to help him with the business thinking and structuring a business plan. A UK business person with Skills Venture that provides this will be opening up business for a further 200 farmers and the 2000 people they support.
